ClinicLedger
ClinicLedger began as a consumer app: reminders, records, a pretty health graph. Eight months in, our retention curve looked like a ski slope. Doctors were polite. Patients uninstalled.
The thing they actually opened every day was the messy admin: appointment slots, lab report PDFs, and a receptionist toggling three WhatsApp groups. We rebuilt as B2B workflow software for clinic chains. Same domain, opposite product.
The hard part was the conversation with angels. We had spent a chunk of the seed on consumer acquisition. I flew to Bengaluru with a six-slide deck that said, in effect, “the app you liked is dead.” Two angels rolled off. One stayed and introduced us to a clinic group CEO who became the design partner.
We converted from OPC to Pvt Ltd before the SAFE-style documents. That sequence mattered; the conversion took longer than the lawyers’ first estimate. ESOP conversations started only after the second director and a real option plan, not a spreadsheet promise.
I still miss the consumer brand. I do not miss pretending a vanity metric was a company. If your buyer and your user are different people, go sit with the buyer. Ours was the operations manager, not the patient.
